SHOULD ABORTION BE OPPOSED OR NOT Essays - Abortion, Fertility
SHOULD ABORTION BE OPPOSED OR NOT? We, human beings, are social animals, which can not live alone. We all must live in a group because each of us depends on each other. Not only that, living in a group, you need to have rules and regulations in order to keep social stabilities and orders. There are many kinds of rules and regulations, some result in physical punishment and some result in social punishment in the form of peer disapproval. Where do they come from? In fact, they came from the decisions made by the majority of people in the society. There are some actions that result in various punishments and an example of this kind of punishment is abortion. The meaning of abortion is very obvious, abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth, and it causes the embryo or fetus to die. Abortion has been a topic of argument for very long time. People disagree on two basic questions. The first question is whether the law should permit a woman to have an abortion or not and, if is so, in what circumstance. The other is whether the law should protect the unborn. Arguments against abortion are generally based on humanity, on the belief that an abortion is the iniquitous killing of an unborn child. The groups of people who are against abortion believe that the life begins as soon as the egg is fertilized with the sperm. Therefore, it is like murdering an innocent life in a mother's womb. They think that the human embryos should have the right to live and experience this wonderful world. Arguments for abortion, many people would allow abortion in only some circumstances. Some of the approval, a woman's life or health is endangered by the pregnancy for example if the woman has serious heart attack; doctor will not allow her to deliver the baby. Other find abortion permissible like when the medical tests are predicted that the child will has short life or born with a serious physical problem. Some people think that the woman should have an abortion, when she was raped and accidentally get pregnant. Imagine that motorcycle riders raped your daughter and get pregnant, would you, as her father, like to keep that child. Others believe that a woman should have right to an abortion, which I think it is the most important, especially when the family can't support the additional member. It is very non-sense to have a child when you can not take care of him to become a qualify person with the best of your ability. In my opinion, abortion is not the right solution for solving the problem, on the contrary, preventing the pregnancy is the thing that women should concern. If she know that her body can not give birth to a child, then she should find the way to control the birth by using condoms or takes contraceptives every time she has sexual activities. Knowing that walking alone in the dark street may end up with rape, then she should take at least three or more friends with her when it is necessary to pass the dark road or take self-protection devices in the handbag all the time.

Pollution Essays
Pollution Essays Pollution Essay Pollution Essay Name: Lecturer: Course: Date: Pollution Pollution is the release of contaminants into the atmosphere that causes hazardous effects. Pollution takes place indifferent forms. The main cause of pollution is human activity. These activities affect the atmospheric air quality, water bodies or land inhabited by man. Pollution of the ecosystem has become so rampant, calling for control strategies to be implemented. The agents that cause pollution are broadly known as pollutants. Pollutants are substances that cause damage to any of the three main areas where pollution occurs. This definition gives us three main types of pollution. These are air pollution, land pollution and water pollution. These are classified based on the agent that causes the pollution. Air pollution refers to the release into the air of either fumes containing dangerous chemicals or loose particles such as dust and natural materials. These cause disharmony and spoil the natural air. This can lead to health defects when such air is inhaled by the occupants of such an environment. The health defects can also occur indirectly through the consumption of crops planted in areas having polluted air. This is because the normal gaseous exchange will continue. Here, contaminated air is used in the plantââ¬â¢s growth process and as such forms harmful components in the plant. Fumes from industries also cause air pollution. Industries normally emit fumes containing dangerous chemicals. The fumes contain sulphurous compounds. This has a direct effect on human life since they are the cause of cancerous diseases. Water pollution occurs after the release of pollutants into water bodies or their sources. This affects plant life, human life and organisms that depend or live in these water bodies. Industrial effluents, when released untreated into water bodies, are a significant source of pollution. This kills a vast amount of aquatic life. When plants are irrigated using this water, they carry on the pollutants which stunt their growth or eventually kill them. When human beings consume such water, they develop health problems. Water pollution is the major cause of waterborne diseases, which is one of the causes of death of human beings. Treating polluted water is vital before consumption to avoid waterborne diseases. Land pollution forms the other main type of pollution. It is characterized by the release of contaminants directly into the land. It also involves practices that lead to the overuse of the land resources. This leads to ruining of the soil and destruction of the natural habitat. Dumping of wastes containing heavy metals leads to land pollution. This has a health risk as plants grown in such areas end up taking in the heavy metals instead of nutrients. When such plants are consumed by either animals or human beings, health disorders may arise. This includes defects of the digestive system to animals and harmful diseases such as cancer to human beings. Land pollution is also caused by human activities such as farming. Chemicals used to improve the production of crops in the form of pesticides and herbicides cause this effect. When they are washed into the soil, they affect the natural condition of the soil. Land should be utilized appropriately to avoid pollution and conserve it. Work Cited ââ¬Å"Pollutionâ⬠Science Daily 2012. Web. 10 January 2013.

Biblical HERMENEUTICS ASSIGNMENT Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Biblical HERMENEUTICS ASSIGNMENT - Essay Example This focus leads into the fact that followers must recognize that Jesus is a divine messenger or intermediary between people and God, and not God himself; this emphasis is particularly strong in the Gospel of John, in which John continues to assert that Jesus is the dutiful son of the father, and not the father himself. Finally, reading the Gospels requires an understanding of salvation and the kingdom of heaven which, through Jesusââ¬â¢ sacrifice, is granted to all those followers who live in faith and love of Jesusââ¬â¢ words, as embodied through the Gospels.4 Recognizing these strategies for reading the Gospels will enable the follower to fully internalize the truthful words of Jesus in a fashion that Jesus intended, rather than through a skewed understanding of his message. Although it is difficult to pinpoint the exact date when the Gospels were written, New Testament scholars argue that the literature in the Book were written at the end of the first and the beginning of t he second century, during the Hellinistic period, when the Christian church was under persecution.5 At this time, three central events affected the writing and compilation of the New Testament, which included the following: the spread of Christianity, the effect of the fall of Jerusalem on Christianity, and the obsessive focus on the destruction of the world (that never came).6 Therefore, this period was characterized by brutal conquests and social turmoil, which is evident in the apocalyptic tone of the writing in the books in the New Testament. In addition, speaking authoritatively on the authorship of the works is particularly difficult because these contributions were not written by eyewitnesses in Jesusââ¬â¢ ministry; ââ¬Å"it has to be understood that in the ancient world it was quite common to attach important names to anonymous works, or to write in the name of some teacher or famous person from the pastâ⬠.7 However, there is a higher level of certainty that these w riters were, in fact, known by Jesus directly, or known by men who were close to Jesus; for example, Peter, Matthew, and John were recognized as being among the original group of Jesusââ¬â¢ followers. Although the apostles were in close proximity to Jesus, there is a great range of diversity between the synoptic Gospels and the fourth Gospel, as well as between the Acts and letters because the Book ââ¬Å"contains a variety of books, written in a variety of lengths and styles, and attributed to a variety of authorsâ⬠¦ [coming] from diverse times and places.â⬠8 In this regard, the vast majority of the literature spoke of and about Jesus Christ, but did so in a varied fashion that reflects different circumstances, concerns and purposes, and

Economics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 6
Economics - Essay Example b. The Fed fund rate averages at 7.10% during the 1970s, 9.97% during the 1980s, 5.15% during the 1990s, and 3.25% during the 2000-2007. The huge differences in the means of Fed fund rates can be explained by the differences in economic and monetary policies adhered by the different chairmen of the Federal Reserve. c. The Fed fund rate reached its maximum during January 1981 at 19.08% which is during the administration of Paul Volcker. Compared to the other Federal Reserve chairman, Volcker has been reputed as an inflation hawk who is more concerned on fighting inflation compared to a dove whose main concern is unemployment. This perception requires him to set the Fed fund rate at higher levels to fight stagflation. d. Fed fund rate is lowest during December 2003 at 0.98% due to the strong performance of the US economy. In fact this period saw the strongest economic development in the economy in nearly two decades. It can be recalled that during this period, the inflation targeting monetary policy has been adopted by the US. f. The Federal fund rate and ten-year Treasury bill rates tend to move apart as shown in the graph above. It should be noted that increases in Fed fund rates is simultaneous with declines in ten-year Treasury bill rates. g. The Federal Reserve solely influences the level of Fed fund rate. It should be noted that this is set during Federal Open Market Committee meetings depending on the agenda and economic situation of the United States. h. The ten-year Treasury bill rate is set by different variables in the economy like the real interest rates and inflation. The Fed can indirectly influence T-bill rates by affecting the monetary variables mentioned

Identify Key Technological Influences On the Internationalisation Essay
Identify Key Technological Influences On the Internationalisation Process - Essay Example This essay stresses that if a company needs to decide the strategy to be used to help it improve the overall move and internationalisation process then the company requires to have the available knowledge to do so. Information overload is a high issue that is being faced by most professionals. Intelligent agent is a related technology, which provides a chance to roam networks and selectively refer users to information that would prove to be useful and beneficial. However, it is clear that the best intelligent agent is a human being by himself. It is obvious that computers are useful in KM as they do not slow down the learning, but help the KM to be more efficient and effective in order to support learning to a greater extent. This paper makes a conclusion that the main aspect and factors that affect the internationalisation of any business is the knowledge that is shared within the organisation and the ability of the company to transfer the data and raw information into understandable knowledge. Based on this, it is essential to understand that KM can be improved not only based on the amount of money spent on it but also a great deal of focus is required to be on the efforts of the management process. It is safe to say that knowledge has already grown largely and it has become one of the most essential aspects of any business. It has become a major driver and money is now slowly phasing out of the scene and as the old saying of ââ¬ËKnowledge is kingââ¬â¢, is now being put to use in almost every industry and every company across the world.

Stem Cells Essay -- Biology Science Stem Cell Research Essays
Stem cells are a large focus of study in todayââ¬â¢s biomedical world. They are cells that exist in an undifferentiated state, and transform into differing tissue types depending on what the cells surrounding them are. The different types of stem cells have the ability to repair many classes of damaged human tissue. However, only one type of stem cell promises to regenerate virtually any class of tissue. This is the highly controversial embryonic stem cell (ESC). Unfortunately, there is a dark side to the ESC. To obtain these cells from embryos will ultimately kill it. By definition, the acquisition of the ESC includes performing an abortion. This has created a great stir in the public world, where abortion is such a hot topic that politicians are hesitant to take either side. The embryonic stem cell is todayââ¬â¢s Pandoraââ¬â¢s Box. With this option now available in the medical world, everyone involved with this topic must make a difficult ethical decision: whether or not saving existing life is worth the termination of potential future life. As expected, there are two sides to the stem cell argument. One side is all in favor of their use, and the other side is dead-set against it. Stem cells come at a high price, yet this price is well worth the saved lives they can offer. In order to develop an opinion on whether or not stem cells should be used, one first must understand what they are and how they are used. Simply stated, the definition of a stem cell is an undifferentiated cell, meaning that it has no true function yet. However, all of the genes within a human stem cell have the potential to become other types of cells. The triggering mechanism for this is for the stem cells to be placed among specialized cells. Specialized cells include skin cells, muscle cells, or any other type of cell that has a specific function in the body. One of the most popular examplesââ¬âand one of the most effectiveââ¬âis the neuron example. This was originally discovered at the University of Madison at Wisconsin in 1997. In the disease Multiple Scleroses, the myelin sheath protecting the neuron is missing. In the absence of myelin to protect the neuron, pain is a constant sensation. Researchers at UMW gathered a group of mice, which were genetically deficient of myelin. When the undifferentiated embryonic cells were implanted into their spines, the cells were able to sense that the myeli... ...he medical world wishes to be able to repair damage within the human body. While it is true that obtaining stem cells destroys life, the benefit to the greater good greatly outweighs the destruction of potential life resulting from a fertilized egg. With an infinite supply of stem cells from just a few lines, all defective tissues can be replaced. Those working in the medical world can greatly improve the quality of human life. With stem cells used in general practice in hospitals, people will live longer, healthier, lives. Many diseases would be completely eradicated, and injuries would cease to be crippling to so many people. However, only when scientists and doctors fully understand how to implement the embryonic stem cell, can all this happen. With funding and support for just a handful more stem cell lines, the medical world could be supplied with an infinite number of stem cells to cure patients. When doctors have all of the lines they need, then they can cease destroying e mbryos to obtain the stem cells they require. The biological world and the field of stem cells specifically, require the support of the federal government as well as the people to make this possible.[/i]

Beowulf: The Battle of Good and Evil
Beowulf is one of the oldest and most extensive poems in the history of literature today. It is also considered to be one of the pioneers of the ââ¬Å"good versus evilâ⬠theme. While the poem revolves around the adventures and battles of Beowulf, the message of the story consistently conveys the concept that good would always defeat evil. The plot itself is already evidence enough to the theme of the poem. As a warrior, Beowulf helps fight the evil Grendel, his mother, and the dragon to save the people of Heorot.Beowulf clearly believes in goodness as it is the will of God. Several texts from the poem illustrate the theme of good and evil. During his battle with Grendel, he proclaims, ââ¬Å"Whichever one death fells / must deem it a just judgment by Godâ⬠(lines 440-441). Beowulf is also described to be a man of faith as he declares that, ââ¬Å"the Geat placed complete trust in his strength of limb in the Lord's favorâ⬠(669-670). This emphasizes the fact that Beowu lf relies on the guidance of God and believes it to be his strength.Even his friend Hrothgar illuminates this goodness in character when he warns Beowulf about the moral dangers caused by pride. ââ¬Å"O flower of warriors, beware of that trap. / eternal rewards. Do not give way to prideâ⬠(1758-1759). On the other hand, evil rests on the characters of Grendel and his motherââ¬âthe villains of the story. Grendel is introduced in a much darker tone, ââ¬Å"until finally one, a fiend out of hell, / began to work his evil in the world. / Grendel was the name of this grim demonâ⬠(100-102).He is also described in the story to be a descendant of Cain which further highlights the evil in his character, as Cain is widely known to be the biblical character who has slain his brother Abel out of jealousy. The story of Beowulf may seem to be just an extensive poem which tackles the never-ending issue of good versus evil. It is like a prolonged epic fairytale of defeating evil ami dst the hardships. Yet, it is a unique literary piece that deserves its length in further reminding people that good really does conquer evil.
